A couple years ago when FMC was testing for arsenic AGAIN, I went door to door to get comments from residents (I was employed at the US&J at the time) and I was astonished by the reaction. The overwhelming opinion of the residents I talked to was, "Why don't you just leave FMC alone - they didn't do anything wrong." I was surprised ... a sort of Stockholm Syndrome for the whole community?
Boy Scott, you really nailed it, small town america at its finest. This is one of those towns that has multiple generations living within blocks of each other. FMC saved this town, they are a friend to the community. Read the signs, "A Friendly Community", donated by guess who. You have heard of the Stepford wives, well here it really is in the water in Middleport. Wouldn't these die hard fans like to read about the animal studies that went on here? All of my old year books have full page adds from FMC, but not a single photo of outside activities is taken with the plant in the background! Kind of strange concidering the plant was just a few feet away from all the athletic fields. One nagging question I have is if everything is safe, why offer price protection for half the village?
i have an FMC brake rotor lathe , it works ok , not great - we dont use it much anymore because most rotors on FWD cars are difficult to center on the lathe and tolerances are just too tight , most rotors dont have enough material left to be removed to leave a usable part .
i apologise if my purchase of that caused your self harm , i dont think it has any radioactive components in it ..... but those cutting tips ??? are very hard , hmmm . tungsten ? or ? one of my customers works in indian point , the tips for the tig welders set off the nuke alarms if he forgets and leaves one in his shirt pocket .... hmm .
I have come to understand that most companies involved with the making of weapons had all thier people sign off,Some were smarter than others and made sure their ins. covered them all the way threw. At least at the big K,some made sure.I still am amazed 65 and above now know what they did and what they have worked with.......Dovey
