In a perfect city David Ulrich would run for mayor. Think about it? He cares about what happens here, he's a very successful business man, he doesn't take **** from anyone and he does everything he says he's gonna do and then some. Look at some of the people we have in office. It's like the dumb leading the dumber! Mike Tucker is a nice guy but he came into office with all the ducks already in a row from the previous administration. All he had to do is connect the dots. Everyone says Sulley never did anything but in reality his term ran out before his fruits ripened.

A buck a pop....SOLD! I think outside the box. Let's get these dead properties back on the tax rolls. When Delphi is gone we will be happy that we thought ahead to look to tourism as our bread and butter industry.

I agree - I'd sell David almost any DOA property in teh city for $1 if he commits to turning it around.
Lets start with the property across State Street from Garlocks. Right there by the canal. It's a gold mine in the making. And I think the city owns it.
Scott, I offered to fix that property and turn it into a nice little 2 tier park area with a stairway into the city. And Sulley was all for it but then he smashed the plan when he thought he had a buyer. Judge Watson was going to give me people who needed to do community service to help clear the trees, I had my uncle that offered to loan me his pay loader and his Backhoe, I had a local blacktopper who offered free blacktop. I had concrete donated, I had shrubs donated. I had a landscaper who offered to help, and I even drew up a picture of what it would look like. If I find it I'll post it. It just looks terrible when you enter the city via the canal. You know what they say about first impressions? I agree, it would be nice if Mr. Ulrich put something nice there.

Is there anyone that believes Ulrich didn't know how much it would cost to put in the pipe when he made it a stipulation for buying the building? How could he not know? That's his business.
I think he just counted on the ineptitude of the CC & just took advantage of the city of Lockport to get a piece of property real cheap.

Shouldn't the CC know these things too before they offer? I certainly wouldn't blindly offer to do something before knowing the cost.

Kels, couldn't agree more. Check this from the Union-Sun's web site: NW (6/16/2005) The CC didn't know how much it cost & didn't bother to find out but they gave it the OK anyways? Well, as the saying goes, you just can't fix stupid.
I love that. "You just can't fix stupid." I've never heard that before.
Maybe i'm looking at it wrong. I guess I can see how Ulrich wouldn't even fathom having to tell the CC what it might cost them because for them to not find out would be unheard of in his line of work.
You wouldn't take your car to a mechanic & tell them to just fix it.
What type of tax revenue would a property like this generate?
kspeer wrote: Hey NW or Nitrogen Widget, yeah I see that it was you who Scott quoted. You have some other good posts over on that site too!
Ya know, Kels, I was going to ask Nitro if that was him. But then I figured it wasn't cause it was essentially opposing the view he had taken here. Of course, that would be pretty smart of him. That way he wins on one board or the other.
