For the record, full-time long-standing McDonald's employees usually do accrue sick days.
And secondly, Gary did say he was off for cancer treatment and then was taking vacation time. Can't fault the man for treating his disease ... nor can you fault him for taking his allowed vacation.
There are several things you CAN fault him for ... but those two really shouldn't come into play.

What are the several things?
That, after 27 years with the department, he fell from grace with the latest bureaucrat to fill the Sheriff's office?
Maybe he should have slapped a restrained, pregnant female. He would have gotten promoted!

Oh but they will now Scott. The seed has been planted and now the fertilizer will be added.

Listen to the podcast. If you don't find some things to be concerned about ... some issues to be critical of, you're not looking.
None of the candidates (for any office) are flawless ... and all have their own faults to point out. But lets address the REAL flaws and not the "sick tiime" crap. That's all I'm saying. Don't be blinded by your hatred for Beilein and refuse to see that your candidate of choice in no more the messiah than you are. That's not to say he's not the better candidate, frankly ... but let's look at the whole package ... not pick the good things from Hayes and the bad things from Beilein.
Let's set the record straight about this guy Gary M. Hayes! He has taken sick time off at work to collect signatures on his petitions! And this guy wants to be ELECTED County Sheriff?? What type of example is he setting for the people who will work for him??
That's right, he was collecting petition signatures.
He's over sixty years old, being treated for cancer, and running for public office.
Let's attack him!
The most therapeutic thing guys like Gary Hayes do, is to try to make life better for their community. I have sat down with him and listened to his message and measured his sincerity.
We would be very fortunate if this man became the next Niagara County Sheriff.
I am certainly looking forward to his next appearance as Scott's guest.

Well said Scott.
