Today, sixty years ago, at 11:02 a.m., three days after the A-bombing of Hiroshima, the Japanese city of Nagasaki was destroyed by a plutonium based atomic bomb. Approximately 70,000 people were killed instantly in this blast. More death followed, just like at Hiroshima, from radiation sickness and thermal burns. Nearly a one mile diameter at the hypocenter was completely vaporized in the blink of an eye.
