WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush warned against price-gouging of gasoline Thursday in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and said looters should be treated with zero tolerance.
"I think there ought to be zero tolerance of people breaking the law during an emergency such as this, whether it be looting, or price-gouging at the gasoline pump or taking advantage of charitable giving, or insurance fraud," Bush said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America."
Is that why gasoline is going for $6.00 a gallon in Atlanta?
Is that why the price of gasoline has risen by 60 cents a gallon in the last 3 days? And a Noco attendant told us it was rising another 20 cents tomorrow?
Price-gouging my @$$. This is extortion.

Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled about it. It might even be good for us! The Saudis are boycotting American goods. Why not boycott their gas? Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis. Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me. So here's a list of which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil.
These companies import Middle Eastern oil: Shell............................ 205,742,000 barrels Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION! (oil is now $55-$60 a barrel)
Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

It's funny, cause I was going to start a similar thread ...
Back in January, I had a guest named Roger Simmermaker. (podcast) We discussed his book, "How Americans Can Buy American - The Power of Consumer Patriotism." In said book. it lists which companies are "American," which he defines as "American owned and/or controlled" companies ... i.e., the profits end up in America.
Gasoline companies which are American owned:
Chevron
Coastal
Conoco
Esso
Exxon
Gas Express
Getty
Gulf
Hess
Kerr-McGee
Marathon
Martini
Mobil
Murphy USA
Pate
Petro
Phillips 66
Sergaz
Sinclair
Sonoco
pur
Star Kleen
STP Fuel Centers
Sunoco
Tenneco
Texaco
Ultramar
Union 76
Zephyr
And foreign owned companies - with country of ownership
Amoco - UK
Arco - UK
Boron - UK
BP - UK
Citgo - Venezuela
Fina - France
Futura - Finland
Red Rooster - Canada
Shell - Norway
Sohio - UK
Standard - UK
Total - France
Now to compare MC's lists and mine. You'll see that Citgo, BP and Arco might not use Saudi oil, but the profits end up in the UK in two cases and Venezuala in the third.
In other words, your best bets seem to be Sunoco, Conoco, Sinclair, and Hess.
