I only caught the end of the show about the "hand vote" for the union endorsment. I was wondering if anyone brought up that the deputies who were on shift at the time were brought in off the street so they could vote. I understand they have a right to vote, thats why mabye a ballot vote would have been in line, then they could have voted in "shifts" rather than clearing the streets of Niagara County Sheriff patrols.
I agree with the caller today who more or less said Brian Grear seems to have gotten plenty of signs around, but hasn't given people a chance to know why he's running. Grear's phone call to Dialog today was a good start, but I think it's too little too late when you consider the election is little over a month away.
It's particularly disappointing when you consider the baggage that Sheriff Beilein brings with him this year. For example, the high ranking Dept. official who slapped the restrained, pregnant female in the jail resulting in a $7500 settlement. The official was allowed to retire with full pension because he was one of the Sheriff's good ol' boys. There are plenty of lurid stories like this one, but the average voter doesn't know any of the specifics.
You have to wonder why somebody like Grear bothers if he isn't going to put forth the necessary campaign to win and use all of the information at his disposal about the dismal performance of the present Sheriff.

Beilien may have some baggage but I was disgusted when I read that Brian Grear refused to get out of bed when a little girl was missing in Lockport. I am sorry Republican or Democrat.....when you refuse to do that....you do not deserve to be Niagara County's top law enforcement official. Shame on you Brian Grear!!!
I think RepublicanJoe is referring to an anonymous mailing sent out. I got a mailing with no return address mailed from Rochester that said this. It was a flier with an old newspaper clipping and all they many reasons we should not vote for Grear. In my opinion it was dirty campaigning at it's finest. The creator of this flier took one statement made by the paper and exploited it for all the bad press it could get. If you took the time to read the article not just the captions, you would have read that Grear was not guilty as charged by the creator.
A word of advise to the person/persons responsible for this mailing. When I get something like this sent to me, I don’t vote for the person who’s campaign generated it.

Actually....I did not receive a mailing. However I did read about that in the Niagara Gazette. it was a column that also outlined some of Mr. Grear's campaign volunteers.
What a crew that is!!
All I know is that when I am voting for Sheriff, I vote for the person that is most dedicated. Mr. Grear is not.
