Okay, maybe I am a total idiot, but I always sort of thought OJ was framed...if he is looking for a house in Lockport, hey, more power to him....there's one for sale two doors down from me...probably a little less than he would like...but he would have good, homespun, down to earth neighbors, anyway. C'mon, you guys, tell me what a fool I am...

Hey Anon., he was aquitted of all charges. He's a free man, found not guilty in a court of law. A jury of his peers decided such. Why aren't you happy with that?

The glee that many (example: the Basket Factory tale) seem to show over OJ's sudden appearance in WNY is disturbing, to say the least. He's a scumbag!!!Granted, the dubious criminal trial ended in his favor, but the civil trial found him liable ("guility") and he has a proven lifelong record of violence against women. My column in this coming Monday's US&J (a shameless, self-promoting plug, eh?) addresses this issue in detail...discussing why he shouldn't be worshipped, why he is worshipped, and why he's decided to come to WNY.

Johnny Cochrans reach from the grave all the way to Niagara County is amazing. He's a killer and one that paid dearly to get off.

He lost the civil case as Mr. Confer says--and besides, Why wouldn't he come to WNY and more specifically, Niagara County, as it is the disfunctional 'Alice in Wonderland' capital of the planet! Or is that OZ?

See what prejudice can do?

And when I say prejudice, I mean that everyone pre judged him, long before the trial ever took place. And this doesn't just happen with celebrities, but us regular folks too. When there's a man on the news accused of, say, murder, most people are conditioned to think "Hmm, he murdered someone, how terrible..." and that's where their thought process stops. Usually because they've already moved on to the next soundbite. It's as if no one is ever wrongfully accused or framed. I find that frightening and disrespectful that there is no sense of presumed innocence anymore. Imagine you were framed for your ex's murder. They had no concrete evidence but mountains of circumstantial evidence. Would you worry?

One step closer to a police state.

I agree Mindcrime, Mr Confer and his backwoods hillbilly politics are what make Western NY a bad place to live. I suppose we should find a peach tree and have ourselves a good ol' fashion lynching, right Mr Confer. I think you need to wear some protection from the plastic fumes. It's making you paranoid. I think the juice could be a great "Promo" tool for the area.

JSpeer, get real. That is the most appalling thing I've heard in a long while.

OJ buying a house at Locust and Lincoln across from the High School?

If he goes to the new YMCA, most likely he won't be bothered, but if he wears a glove to play racketball or lift weights???

I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face.

I put the front door in this house. I also remodeled a few of the rooms. I hope OJ does get it. I think he would be a benefit to the community...even if the local snobs don't like him.

You hang people from Oak trees, silly.

  quote from above...lol

Guess I am one of those "backwards hillbillies" that was mentioned.  I   have no problem with that...call me what you will.

Think what you will...but when times were like that....you didn't see half the cr*p going on that there is today!

Besides....if OJ had "nothing" to do with the death of his wife and friend....who did....they had no other suspects?

                                            Just my thoughts...

Folks, In America you are”guilty until you prove yourself innocent” not the other way around. OJ has proven  himself innocent regardless of whether you like it or not! He is a free man to do as he pleases and I’m glad he may move into Lockport.

Many of you don’t know the real reason why he’s moving here; it’s because Niagara County has one of the best union maintained public golf courses in western New York. That’s important to a man who can only afford to play on public courses, and we look forward to seeing him playing there everyday.

Mr. McD, beg to differ.

In this country, a jury finds you "guilty" or "not guilty". Some countries actually have a legal determination of "innocence", but not ours.

You might say that's splitting hairs between "not guilty" and "innocent". Actually, it left the door open for the subsequent civil suit against Simpson.

I'd highly recommend Vincent Bugliosi's book "Outrage". In it he details the mistakes the prosecutors made, and that there was ten times the evidence needed for a conviction. For example, Simpson's blood was found at the scene, his and his victims' blood was found in the getaway vehicle, and his victims' blood was found in his bedroom. He had a deep gash on his finger and could not adequately explain it when first questioned. He had no alibi, and he had a history of violence against one of the victims. When he hit the road with his buddy Cowlins he wrote a suicide note that, as Bugliosi puts it, drips with guilt.

Maybe he figures he'll be left alone in LP. I don't know whether he's guilty or innocent but I figure it must really suck to be him either way.

Here's the breakdown: You start out as innocent. Once accused, a jury must assume you are innocent. Once a verdict is handed down, you are then 'guilty' or 'not guilty' but you are never again innocent as far as that particular crime is concerned.

This why the burden of proof falls on the prosecution, because you cannot prove a negative. You can't prove that someone didn't do something, or that something does not exist.
