Wow, lots of very close races as of 10:35 PM:

15th district
Apolito 1136
Cercone 1132

16th district
Aronow 1645
McNall 1556

2nd ward
Green 379
MacDonald 329

5th ward
Lombardi 679
Mullane 654

And the Erie County Sheriff race is really close too

I have to say that this is the first time I have taken an interest in local politics, and it's been fun and informative!

Me too...I even went so far as to crash the Democrat return thing(?) at the UAW post! I mean I am a registered Democrat, and I got a free beer out of the deal. I wanted to just go and scope it out. Very interesting, indeed. I guess they are going to seize the Apolito/Cercone voting machines...it's very close...time will tell, I guess.

That creepy Glenn Aronow won. Yuck! Sorry I sound like a 12 year old but he's just so arrogant!

I did see Paul Oates live and in person! Kinda neat!

It is sad that our attention was taken away from the County Legislator races by that kid Brian Grear grinding his ax with our good Sheriff.

Unfortunately, self-serving people like Tony Villella had to thrust himself back into Niagara County Politics and take the focus away from the real issues that matter to us.

We will pay for this over the next two years.

I will have to pay for the next 4 yrs for a department head that does not totally "Protect & Serve" the entire community.

        Thats what is a shame.

My opinion...... Need help?  Call the NYS Troopers!

Sour grapes!

Next time you want to beat the sheriff run somebody qualified to do the job and keep Villela out of it!  Look what happened to the other Villela running for office!

Sacco, time to shut up about it.

I thought Beilein's victory speech, or the part of it I heard on WLVL, was strange. He sounded like he had just won the Indy 500. Practically shouting in the mike about leadership and vision and all the people who gave their all to see him re-elected. He needs to be reminded that he got elected to do a job, that's right, just a job. No need for vision or leadership. Just make sure the tickets get written and the bad guys get 'cuffed, thank you.

King George, Prince Henry and the rest didn't grant Grear any campaign money since they are perfectly happy to let Democrats point to a prominent functionary like Sheriff Beilein who has no real political power but lots of presence. They're placing their bets on non-glamorous races at the county legislature and town councils, etc., which ultimately run the planning and zoning boards, the Greenway Commissions and the unending slush of patronage and sweetheart contracts. Sheriff? No problem, all yours!

In other words, did you know that the bagpipe was actually a gift to the Scots from the Irish, and the Scots took it seriously.

Jim,

You are so right in what you said. All Dems should be glad they didn't concentrate on the sheriffs race. The Republicans should be ashamed of themselves for not supporting a fellow Republican, whether they thought he could win or not. I was told the day before the election that King George sent Mr Greer a $1000 check and that Mr Greer sent it right back to him. I thought that was pretty classy. What can you do with $1000 when the election is just about over? I'm sure Greer could have used the money 2 months ago....now what do they call that? CYA?????? Just in case?

HEY,  What about Larry Soos, the new Mayor of NT???

He beat the Maziarz Machine!

Now for the next two years, we will have to watch Mike Carney again at the Legislature Meetings.  When you watch him sitting next to Bill Ross, doesn't Mike look like a deer staring into the headlights at times???

You're right, Larry did very well.

I'm looking forward to inviting him on the show.

Did King George's sister that he worked against win in NT?

Actually, politicos welcome contributions long after the election is over because they often spend themselves into debt (Bill Clinton comes to mind, he was still having fundraisers years after he ran).

If Grear returned a check to King George, I'm sure it was because he had enough financial backing from others, and his campaign fund is in the black or break-even.  Regardless, it's not like he could've taken the $1000 and spent it on personal things like a casino weekend or something. That would be a violation of election law.

You are right Jim, but most people who run for office loan put money into their committee accounts as a loan, so that if they do get some sizable donations they can get their money back. I have no idea what Greer's bills were, and I'm sure he probably could have used that $1000 to pay any outstanding bills he may have had, but just sending it back sends a message. I still think it was classy. I'd think that of any person running for office that didn't take money from the "King!" Too bad Joanne lost....it would have been an interesting couple of years in NT!

If any one wanted to see a real class act they should have been at a watering hole on Rt. 78 in Northern Niagara County early Wednesday morning. A veteran politician with his family & friends came into the place with his opponents signs, that he signed and gave to the owner to use as door matts, and I'm not Belyien!

I heard about that, and that there were several signs at the old homestead on 18. Most of us know who collected them.....lol. it's the talk of the town. One man said at Tops today he was disgusted with the whole show. Now that's not too classy!

Anon,

That's pretty good. I agree! Mike Carney does look like a deer staring into the headlights at the Legislature meeting.  So will we get two more years of that??

King George can't even get on a Harley. His little legs aren't long enough, so he rides a Norriscycle.

Don't tell the Norriscycle....hate to deal with an insecure Norriscycle who thinks King George could be two-timing
