Washington -- The unwelcome but indisputable revelation that some of the most exciting biomedical claims of the past few years were the product of scientific fraud settled like a cloud over the American scientific community Friday.
Stem cell researchers said they were depressed and discouraged to learn that an investigatory panel at Seoul National University had found that most of the precious human embryonic stem cell colonies that its scientists had touted were fakes.
The star scientist at the heart of that deception -- Hwang Woo Suk -- resigned Friday from his university post, his meteoric rise to fame coming to a wrenching end.
Many researchers said they are worried about the political impact of the debacle in the United States, where the Senate is poised to consider several bills that could boost or restrict stem cell research. Although controversial because it involves the destruction of human embryos, the science has had generally high approval ratings with the public because of all the medical promise the cells are thought to hold.
Yet scientists pledged Friday to learn from the experience and move ahead with renewed vigor, saying they still see the field as extremely promising.
Yes I saw that Mike, such great lengths to deceive by these Scientists. Let's hope that it doesn't have a big trickle down effect to legitimate studies. I bet all scientific information is looked at a bit more closely now. Getting back to the report card, every teacher had this kid absent for a different number of days. Only one had all of his absences. The comments were just plain funny because the kid never stepped foot in this school.

My sons teacher sends home a report periodically...stating all my sons grades and it states that I should "check them against my records and get back to her if there are any discrepancies"....which means parents should save ALL the home work and tests to check them against the grades teachers have recorded.
I did in fact save all of the papers and to my surprise found several discrepancies....some papers the teacher had marked 0 and I had the actual paper corrected AND graded 100%!
As I get papers back I also go through them and often find things marked wrong that are correct....
All of this extra work for me is alot of work but I do it to assure myself my son is getting graded fairly.
