An Omnibus Thread for Strange Worries and Concerns
Permalink Closed

* I'm deathly afraid of escalators for two reasons; a) when getting on the down escalator, I'm afraid I'll miss the step and fall ~shudders~ and b) I'm afraid that when getting off the escalator, my jeans that are too long will get sucked into the metal thingy, causing me to get sucked in. Am I the only one that thinks escalators look like barbaric instruments of torture?

* I worry that when I post to a thread, nobody else bothers to post to that thread after me. I am a killer of threads.

* I worry that adult life is like high school, only on a larger scale.

* I'm constantly paranoid about my computer eating my dissertation so I have saved it on 3 different disks -- a bit much?

What about you guys?

I've always feared walking over drainage grates.

I absolutely will NOT go to an automated carwash that has one of those track thingies that grabs your tire to guide you through.  I fear that I might just become suddenly moronic and drive over it before it's done, or the car behind me might hit me.

This fear also applies to instant oil change places where you have to drive over the big hole in the floor and driving a car onto a lift at a garage.  Oh hell no, I'm not doing it!  I will get out of the car and ask the guy to do it.  This is probably why I have maintenance issues with cars.  (like a car that I used to have that I ran all the oil out of until it died)

I guess I just don't trust myself not to be a big clutz.  I still fall UP the stairs at least one a week, and have broken numerous toes just walking through the house.

I fear Carnies and normalsee...and maybe fat chicks (when I'm sober) LOL!

All kidding aside...I won't eat food that old people have prepared and I don't like my food touching on my plate...I eat each item until it is gone before I eat the next item. I start with the thing I like least and eat the thing I like best last.

So, I was outside on a walk yesterday when I came across a snake that had been run over in the road (I'm getting the willies just typing this). Anyway, I thought of another strange concern: whenever I see a dead animal that I'm particularly afraid of a la snakes and spiders, from some reason I think it's going to get all pet cemetary on my ass and spring back to life. It freaks me out!

I am greatly worried that IF i move back to western new york, it will be a horrible failure and I will end up exactly where I was when I moved out, destitute and broke, a working wage slave pining for escape from all that ails the northern cities....
