There has been a lot of discussion on this board lately about diminishing people's abilities to post anonomously. Much of the rhetoric on the boards has been ... juvenile ... to say the least. And at least one poster would like for people to be REQUIRED to sign in in order to post.
I'm not going to do that ... not yet, at least.
BUT ... there is no negative side to getting a sign in name. No monthly fee. No spam. No newsletter. Ask the rest of the posters, there is no downside.
There ARE several upsides - you get a little insignia all to yourself, you get to play games - etc. AND ... you're taken as being more credible.
The only reason I don't require people to "sign in" is because if you're only going to post once, I don't want to run you through the whole rigamarole (sp?) of signing up - getting a password, etc.
Personally, any post that isn't signed, I ignore. And a post by an "anonymous" person gets only a fraction of the weight as a post by a "user." If you don't believe in yourself enough to at least get a SCREEN NAME to stand behind, that tells me alot.
I ask that you play nice. And humbly beseech the posters who post regularly get a screen name.
A lot of people seem to be preoccupied with whether or not someone posts with a name or anonymously. Most of these people are the same ones who are against big government, invasion of privacy and being tracked by "Big Brother." They want everyone to 'identify' themselves on this board, but are probably the first ones to b---- when they have to use a special card at the supermarket.
It's little more than a convenience to have everyone use a sign-in name, it allows you to credit or direct a question/comment to the right person. Other than that, who cares? As long as the post is valid, concise and respectful, I really don't care who said it. I don't change my responses or opinions based on who I'm talking to. I pay attention to the subject matter.

Maybe I've just been posting anonymously for the last few weeks...

Here's the deal-I'm the only really official anonymous user here any more. So, all you others butt out. OK, just kidding. I am now anonymous and will be going to the courthouse here in a little while to make it official. From this day forward, all of those previously anonymous postings and any furture anonymous postings must be approved here, by Me, at the Ministry Of Not Knowing. Send inquiries to this email address @ . . All submissions made to the Minister of the Misistry of Not Knowing, will remain confidential. This new division of the Protocol Directorate of the Third Circuit Seating of the High Court will filter and act as a barrier to all things that you shouldn't be reading or seeing or knowing about that might hurt you if you did. If you know what I mean? >:^]
