Council Penny wise

Are these Vietnam vets or Lockport firemen? Why don't they have the firemen walk in front of the council so they can spit on them and belittle them some more. Maybe have a parade so people can throw rocks at them and rotten tomatoes.Who exactly are they working for? Who pissed them off? Penny wise dollar dumb. What's it going to take to open they're eyes....someone getting killed? I say let the people be heard. We vote on the library and school tax increases but we don't vote on Police or Fire hires? Like I say if your gonna bitch about something then you better care enough to run and fix it......hmmmmmm maybe the council could be in my future. I couldn't do any worse.

I tend to agree with you jspeer.  The police department is in just as dire straits and they don't get beat up nearly as much.  Although, it seems to me that Joe Kibler has a personal vendetta against the fireman.  Just catch him at Tom's Diner, Cousin's Cafe or LaPorts and listen to him "G__ D___ the Fireman."  Obviously, Joe hasn't needed their services.  I am starting to believe that this is not a money issue, not a personnel issue, but a PERSONAL issue.  Our elected officials have to remember who elected them.  If you were really trying to do things in the best interest of the City, you would realize that retaining and staffing Police and Fire should be your FIRST priority!  Good Riddance Scott Cercone...please take Joe Kibler, Phyllis Green and Pat Schrader with you!!!!

Lets hope the council doesn't change their mind on hiring police. Anyone who sees these guys outside of work can see how overworked they are. I own a business and know what its like to be overworked. It sucks. Good luck to the police and I hope you have better luck with the board than the firemen have had.

"obviously, Joe hasn't needed their services." - With those big stogies he smokes and his age as a factor, it might not be too long until he does. Then he might see how important response time is. I hate to say it because I wish no ill will to anyone, but it's just bad karma. What comes around, goes around. Some of the other council members don't look too healthy either.

Maybe I'm in the minority. I don't know. But mine and my families safety (fire and police) is my highest priority. Out of all city issues, this should be the most important.

at 12:14 PM today - Wright's Corners had a call for a woman 38 weeks pregnant in labor. It is now 12:35 (still haven't heard confirmation that the ambulance is there yet.)

At this same time - the city has responded to 2 seperate accidents on West Ave.

12:36 - 2nd call for WC at the jail. Now what?

There is a huge difference between volunteer and paid services for anyone who is about to suggest going volley for fixing this problem. Somebody always does. Just listen to a scanner at any given time.
