Mike you had to walk through the metal detectors when your bags went through the x-ray machine. I can remember flying with my college age son when he was still in an infant seat, that set off the detectors. And in the mid 90's I was on crutches and set it off, they had the wands then. They have been around as long as I can remember.

I set them off everytime from the time I was 10 - about 15 years old because I wore a back brace for scoliosis. The funny thing was they would still make me walk through it even though it was obvious that I was covered in metal and would set it off. Then they would pull me over to the side and go over me with the wand. I could have very easily hidden a gun in my brace. How would they have known? They never asked to actually see the rest of the brace!

yeah KS, same with the car seat. They would carry that through and it set off the alarm, but never once did they have me remove the baby. They just assumed that nothing was in it.
