no  . if they do all that , they will find nothing wrong , it would be a waste of their time and resources...if they tap my phone or bug my house they will soon fall asleep from all the normal family and business things that go on in my life.

Sounds like you're trying to convince the people who are ALREADY SPYING ON US. People shouldn't expect to be treated like criminals unless they are criminals.

How long before we need to present our paper's to government agents patrolling the streets.

The "you have nothing to worry about if you've done nothing wrong" mentality is just fine untill you get pulled over on a routine traffic stop on your way to something important & Barny Fife decides he doesn't like your looks.

I started reading parts.

I noticed a section on jurisdiciton search warrants that looked like it allowed a judge to give out a search warrant for an area that has seen terrorist activity that law enforcement individuals can just carry around with them in case they need it?

At least that is how I read it.

That would mean police in Lackawanna can assume probable cause & search your property?

Or do I have that wrong?

The PA seems very vauge.

It sure isn't written like tax laws.

Wow. Let's address the first part of the quote. People who agree with the Patriot Act always seem to say, "if you're not doing anything wrong, then why worry?" With that kind of theory, we can strike the fourth and fifth amendments from the Bill of Rights. Why worry if they search and seize if you're not hiding anything? And why worry about remaining silent if you don't have anything to hide? I kind of like the fourth and fifth amendments and will choose them over the Patriot Act.   As for the second point, you mean to tell me that you stalled out on a bridge and before you could get towed, the cops had to check you out? So you had done nothing wrong ... and you were arrested (literally) until you were cleared. I'd have a real problem with that ... and yet, you don't seem to at all.   Finally - if we strike the fourth and fifth amendments and the police have the right to detain you whenever your car breaks down, how free are we really? And if that's the case, what exactly are we fighting for?

I have to agree with Scott here. The Patriot Act gives way to much power to authorities. Anyone can be detained at ant time without cause in the interest of national security. You guys that make Bush jokes have given reason enough. I could be stopped and held because someone doesn't like red and my new shoes are red. Big brother has really over stepped on this one. Why are we fighting that war again? My memory must be failing because I though it was so they could enjoy the same freedom we have.

the police have had always had 24 hours to charge you , after the initial arrest ,  or if no charge you have to be released , not affected by the patriot act .

you are forgeting here that the replacment for carnivore is up and running now , what ever you do outside of your home including every thing has been ok d by the supreme court as being subject to observation at the least  .   info gleaned by observation can be used to obtain warrants for more detailed information gathering .    that has nothing to do with the patriot act either .

perhaps the patriot act is only smoke and mirrors ,  to keep the aclu and like minded individuals chasing their tails and ignoring the real thing .....   like carnivore and it's replacement .

4th amendment ? does not apply , the supreme court of the USA says so .  want to see the link again ?

Yes that is correct, the police can detain you for a certain amount of time with just cause. The patriot act does not require just cause, just a suspicion. There is a huge difference.
