So the moral of the story is that Jim Mills will get a $10,000 check to "make up" for last year. And an $18,000 raise this year. That's $28,000 in extra money he'll get this year, overall. That's more than most people in NC make in a year. And for the record, he never told me why he deserved it ... or why he couldn't live off it. But it's nice to know that the folks from Newfane have so much extra money to throw away. Equally nice to know that Donna Hill's last act was to give away $28,000. And she probably still wonders why she lost.

To my Newfane detractors ... any comments? Is it okay to question this? Or am I somehow hurting Newfane? Will your businesses suffer? You can most surely withstand it if you had all this extra money to give to Jim Mills, huh? Maybe rather than writing letters to my advertisers, you might want to comment here. It would be appropriate. Unless you don't think your arguments would stand up to scrutiny. In which case, a boycott is your only hope. If the truth isn't on your side, you better prevent people from hearing the other side (i.e. "the truth").

Wow. A lot lower than I would have expected ... especially with all the belly-aching our local Supers do about "keeping up with other districts."

Ok, I want to be sure I read this correctly. The Board President in her last meeting signed the contract. Is this the same board president that is currently an intern under the superintendents supervision?

After reading Donna Hill's statement, i'm still not sure what body of water he parted to get him that raise. but there were a lot of impressive words put in such a small statement so he must of deserved it.

Tough decisions.

Do I join the teacher's union or the carpenter's union?

Because I am most certainly in the wrong line of work.

Ironically, the only one among us without flaw was both a teacher and a carpenter. Makes you wonder if Mills is giving 10 percent (that would be $13,400 this year) to the church. If so, his tithe would pay my rent, school loans, car payments, cell phone, cable, water, electric, et al ... for the entire year. Excuse me, I'm going to be sick.

I can't find the words for this one. I copied this from the other Newfane thread.

One person cannot simultaneously hold two public offices or positions of employment if one is subordinate to the other, such that the person would essentially be his or her own boss, or if the functions of the two positions are inherently inconsistent with each other, such as simultaneously as the district’s finance officer and as the auditor responsible for the integrity of the district’s finances. (Opinion of the Attorney General I 92-13)

There must be a great likelihood of a division of loyalties or a conflict of duties between the offices, not merely a possibility that such complications may arise on occasion.

I think the answer is clear she didn't just cross the line, she's jumping up and down saying na na na. What is that about a 15% raise for this year? And you wonder why people don't trust school boards.

I'm thinking cost of living would have been very generous considering the hard financial times of the community. Where is Ann, I was sure she would post on this.
