I guess if the good lady is the daughter of a lawyer who has ties to our good Senator, she could qualify as having no political experience. She just hears about it when she is with her father.

So, if my sister's lawyer is my mother, and, my mother is a doctor and her hairdresser knows a Niagara County politician, and, I get the $70K job--either on Lockports Streets Department, or that little Judgeship I've been inquiring about, would that make this deal nepotisim? Even if I knew Senetor George really, really well?

Whatever happened to George Maziarz's relative that got caught doing something fishy at the international border? Wan't he suspected of smuggling or something or another?

George's nephew (Marvin's son) worked at the Peace Bridge and was arrested for helping to traffic drugs over the border. This was reported on WLVL radio in 2003 on the morning when the 7th District Legislative Candidates were there for a debate.

From what I hear, the charges were reduced to trafficing alcohol.

Go figure.

Eventually everything was dropped. The feds apparently "forgot" what he had done and "misplaced" the records.

MINOR CORRECTION: I THINK IT WAS A 2005 FORD TAURUS THAT SENATOR GEORGE BOUGHT WITH CAMPAIGN FUNDS!! NO BULL!!

MAYBE I SHOULD START A PAC COMMITTEE BECAUSE MY 2002 FORD TAURUS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED IN A FEW YEARS??

ONLY the most cunning of politicians would buy a Taurus. That way he'd look all common and nondescript and such, blend right in. I remember a politician once who said that the reason they buy cars like that is, now get this, when their drinking and driving, if they hit someone, that it'd be hard to describe the car. I think one NC pol, in fact had it happen just before the DWI laws. All charges went by, buy. Hic.

How convenient! Isn't Mike Battle looking for a better position in Washington now??

This 'thing' with improper handling of court cases involving King George and his family kinda reminds me of the case in 1993 when $5000 was transferred (laundered?) through a print company for George. The only problem was that the George Maziarz campaign was found guilty in County Court, and not the person. OOPS!

BTW, when was the last time our chief prosecutor had Republican opposition??

The thing that bothers my family most of all about our "pretigious Senator" buying a new Ford, is the fact that he represents how many thousand of people who depend on General Motors for their livelyhood? What a slap in the face to his constituents! Well, at least it wasn't a foreign carmaker he supported....Hmmm...they must not have donated to his "warchest!"

Today on the news (the 27th) Governor Pataki announced that he will not be running for a 4th term. This puts Elliott Spitzer in the lead to be elected governor. It has been published in several articles that as Governor, Spitzer will appoint Beilein to a top state law enforcement position. This leads to the question, who will be sheriff appointed by Beilein as his hand picked successor for the remaining 3 years of his term? I suggest voting for Grear for sheriff, that way we would at least know who our sheriff would be for the entire 4 year term.

You are just speculating on the future.

You also seem to have an ax to grind with our good Sheriff.

Unfortunately, you were drawn in by the Niagara County Chapter of this group Primary Challenge that is targeting people that Maziarz hates.

It is tough to eat crow, but I suggest you get over the issues you have with the Sheriff and just go back to doing your job, serving the people of Niagara County.

I haven't seen that information. That seems odd that Spitzer would make such statements. I know how you like to hold onto media reports. Could you point me to one?

Thanks for expressing your thoughts. You are right in that Primary Challenge did goof up. But you must realize that where they goofed up is letting the Maziarz cronies try to use their name here in Niagara County.

They have no credibility here, and may have no candidates here in Niagara County. This is fortunate because they may be doing good honest work in Erie County that is in much worse shape than we are (kinda scary to think that).

In a way, I actually feel sorry for him. I had even called his office on a Sunday morning and told him that.

Hey Nitrogen widget, you don't have to feel sorry for me.

I should explain why I told Senator Maziarz I feel sorry for him.

About a year ago, I read an article that appeared in the Niagara Section of the Buffalo News about Senator Maziarz and how powerful he was. Senator Maziarz stated in the article that he was so busy that he worked in his office on Sunday morning between 7 and 10 am because it was the only quiet time he had to get things done.

The following Sunday, I got ready for Church early, and while the rest of my family was still in their rooms getting ready, I called Senator Maziarz office. When George answered the phone I told him who I was and that I had read the article the previous Sunday.

I told him that after reading that he works on Sunday morning, I felt sorry for him because I was getting my family to Church.

George replied back that he goes to Church on Saturday.

In response I told him he does not realize what I was saying. For the previous 15 years I have looked forward to taking my family to church on Sunday morning.

Given how he has chosen to get so involved in politics, I feel sorry for him.
