Why is it that when you go out to dinner and order a salad, they come around and ask if you want fresh ground pepper on it? But they never ask you if you want fresh ground pepper on any other part of your meal? I mean, if you like fresh ground pepper, wouldn't it be safe to think that you like it on more than just salad?
And why can't they give you the pepper mill so you can put it on by yourself? Is it too complicated a piece of equipment? Do they not trust you with their beloved pepper mill? Do they only have one for the whole restaurant? I think it's a control issue.LOL
I also hate the whole wine service ordeal. Just give me my wine!

What about crushed red pepper, or romano cheese, or lemon juice or any of the dozens of other toppings? Nice restaurants ought to have a designated server just for garnishes and toppings. He could have his own little cart and a grinder/grater/press for every item.
