This is really pathetic on so many levels. I have to agree with Scott on this one. If the nurses feel they are worth more money they should go elsewhere. It is pretty simple. You feel you are underpaid and the conditions are not to your liking, you get a new job. Healthcare is in crisis mode and there is no more money to be squeezed out. Poor management and an entitlement approach to compensation are at catastrophic levels. Can any nurse at LMH say there is an abundance of money to be had? How many RN's are making $12 per hour? I would bet there are not many.
I think any nurse that threatens someone’s health because of an opinion posted on a message board should not be a nurse. That is pathetic. Especially when you consider that this nurse is speculating on an identity. I wonder if all LMH nurses feel they have the right to provide inadequate treatment to a patient on a whim. Pretty scary. I will certainly tell everyone I can to avoid this hospital at all costs. I will read this nurses posting in my morning meeting and will post it at church,
And one more thing. The condescending attitude reflected in your statement regarding ASS=Gluteus=Anatomy 101 is almost as ridiculous. We all know what it means. You were asked why you capitalized an improper noun, not what it meant. I guess a person who feels they hold another’s life in there hands would think they know better than everyone else. Good luck with your negotiations. I am sure you feel you are worth more than whatever they offer you. I pity those that will suffer from your poor treatment as a result of this evident hostility.

Truthy,

Nice of you to drop in. I paraphrased your quote to say what you really meant there.

the point is continually being missed by those posting here. it was not so much about the 5.00 difference in pay scales, but the difference in staffing. these nurses have asked for a better level of staffing to not only stop mandatory overtime but bring the staffing levels up to a more acceptable level.that is fill vacant positions with some new hires instead of overtime or temp staffing. where people's health and lives are concerned, is doing more with less to save money really a wise decision. as far as leaving for a better oppotunity or more money, if you have 10,15,20+ years invested in YOUR retirement how quickly are YOU walking away????

oh and by the way it's spelled hippocratic.

I have 25 years in at LMH. You need to shut your mouths and stop being jealous! Yes I do have a god complex. I save lives, what do you do? I'm sure your job is far less important than a NURSE! How many people have you people saved? Scott, I thought you were an intelligent man. I guess I was wrong! Unions are what make America great. Be thankful we have them here.

You have got to be kidding Anonymous God like Nurse! What makes you think your job is any more important than these posters? You don’t have enough courage to identify yourself, but you are better than us because you are a nurse? I hate to break it to you, but your no more important than anyone else.

SHughes, who are you to judge me? That's the problem with you and people like you. You are so quick to judge others while your world is crumbling around you. You bitch for the sake of bitching and point for the sake of pointing. Never looking at yourself as part of the problem, none the less part of the solution. You blame the President for all the world's problems. How much do they pay you for doing nothing on the school board? I could only wish to have such an easy job. Maybe then I would have more time to get a Username and post as you do. Nurses are what keeps this world running. Be thankful that we care, even for people like you.

Why thank you for making my point Anonymous God like Nurse! I don’t believe it was me who made this post.

It really makes my job worth it when I have people out there like you that understand it so well. Let me repeat myself, you are no better that the rest of us. Sorry I don’t have time for a longer response, but apparently I need to go check on my world, I hear it’s falling apart!

I thought school board members are unpaid -- has that changed? You seem to know an awful lot about this poster, "shughes," -- at least enough to have been a regular reader on this board. I don't know who "shughes" is or whether he's a school board rep and I registered, yet, you know all this info about him and claim to not have enough time to register. Hmmm...color me skeptical.

Yeah, what an irrelevant existence: someone volunteers their time and energy (w/out getting paid) to improve the lives of children and you bash them for it b/c he's not "saving lives." You know, I wanted to be open-minded about this thread but I grew up in LP and, let's face it, it's evident from this "discussion" (I hate to even use adult terminology for it) that a lot of us have not heard good things about the level of care at this hospital. None of the posts on this thread have justified your position; all you have done is resort to petty, childish name-calling and threats and we're supposed to be sympathetic to that? I hope that your level of maturity doesn't have a correlation to the kind of caregivers you are in this community, otherwise that hospital is in more trouble than I thought. Do yourself a favor and quit humiliating yourself, your cause, and your place of employment by these sophmoric postings.

Without us nurses, people will die and the hospital will close. We are the heart and soul of LMH. All we wanted is to be given our well over due pay! What's another $6? Our hospital needs to learn to SHARE THE WEALTH!

No MBrophy, that hasn't changed School Boards are volunteer. Scott was right, it's nice to have a reasonable poster on board.

Would that be $6 per hour per nurse?

Couldn't care less what your above opinion is Mr. James Hufnagel--that's for all the nurses at LMH! Sooner of later you're going to wind up here and we can't wait!!

(On the off chance this actually was posted by a nurse)

Professional comments like that make me think taking the time to go to a hospital farther away in an emergency situation may not be as big a gamble as I originally thought.
