Lkpt. Budget cuts
Permalink Closed

So, I wonder what the big secret is at City hall with the "mystery" cuts in next year's budget. Anybody going to tonight's meeting? Sounds like people will be losing their jobs. I don't like that. That will most likely affect some friends. There has got to be a better way. I like the "zero based" budgeting strategy that has been proposed by one of the candidates.

Budget workshops are public meeting and are supose to be done in open session. Position cuts due to budget are not executive session issues. Why is know one questioning that?

Regretably, Sue, the law is as good as the men interpreting it ... and in this case, those interpreting it are the ones saying they can't reveal any details. Getting Freeman involved in a 24 hour delay, such as this one, is a waste of his precious resources. The biggest problem I have with this - as I have always had - is that our elected officials DON'T KNOW THE FRIGGIN' LAW!!!

*steps off soap box*

Well, now we know why they were so secretive. That's the only way to get a crock of **** like that passed.

story link

Why don't we just sell our children into slavery or hand them off to other communities who actually want them? The saddest part of this is that I'd bet it's all politics. Much of the Council dislikes Paul Foster ... and this could be the only way they could get rid of him. it's a shame. The Department of Youth and Recreation puts on the city's BEST program every year - the Easter Egg Hunt. Yeah - let's get rid of the department that brings joy to kids. Who the **** actually wants to make KIDS happy?

AND WE STILL HAVE A ****ING TAX INCREASE!!!!

As you can see - I'm a little perturbed.

As I guessed, a friend loses a job. Not quite the department I was expecting though. Why don't they give Tony Nemi the Main St. job? He's qualified and an overall good guy.

Wasn't this department head supposed to be finding grants? Maybe that was a big hint back a while ago.

"BEST program every year - the Easter Egg Hunt."

Personally, I like the Chili Cook Off since we WON finally last year! BTW also run by the Youth Dept. at Winterfest.

My favorite was the huge street hockey league. Tony did a great job running that. Hopefully there's a way to keep it going.
