Sheriff's Podcast up ...

The podcast to today's show is online. If you know anyone that missed the show - or if you'd like to hear it again, click here. Also, there's a new poll - asking who you're voting for as of now. For the poll, click Here.

Thanks to all for listening today and for your questions. I'm sorry I was unable to get them all in. In fact, I don't think I got 30 percent of them in. But I tried to get the important ones ... and ones that were answerable.

I've gotten MUCH feedback. Some thought it was good. Some thought I was slanted ... in one direction or the other ... but claims have come that I slanted both ways, so I must have done something right.

And finally, lost in today's Sheriff's race debate, was the fact that I had the opportunity to interview John Amato from Crooks&Liars. For that podcast, click HERE.

Scott,

You seemed to focus on personnel issues that don't really matter to the people of Niagara County in this forum, but DID NOT focus much on the services that our Sheriff administers or the supervisory, budgeting, and public relations experience that are necessary to perform these duties.

These issues are more important to the people of Niagara County, than some "he said, she said" debates.

It was not a good show.

My attempt was to focus on the things that people are talking about and interested in.

I'm sorry you didn't like it. But thanks for tuning in.

In terms of budget and management, there didn't seem to be much difference between the two. This was a chance for Mr. Grear to shine, but his suggestions to save money really seemed cosmetic. Gary Hayes was the only (would-be) candidate to propose transitioning road patrol to the towns and villages, which is the only move that would have a major impact. So there isn't a tremendous difference between the two except for the issues that go to character and judgment, and given the various documented abuses in the jail and elsewhere that have been exposed, but not responded to, I bet most reasonable people are going to give Grear a chance to see what he can do.

Give me a break will you! There is a tremendous difference!

Grear's strings are being pulled by TONY VILLELLA! That will not stop after election day.

How can anybody say Grear could run a budget?  His total experience is a snowplow company, that I think went bankrupt once, that really makes me feel good to give him and Villela a $25,000,000 budget to play with!

I thought it was great when the sheriff made him realize the word money launderer was an actual charge, not just some words.  He knows so little about the big picture of law that he doesn't realize that you can't just say things.

And then how about poor Brian calling in sick Tuesday because he was tired!  And then lieing about only using 10 sick days in 14 years, when he has used at least that many this year.  How stupid can you be to call in sick to work, after having a press conference to sling mud at your boss/opponent that day, and then knowing you would be in a public debate with him the next day where he would bring it up!  I can't believe Vilella let hin do that.

The sheriff even brought up the specific days he was sick this year, and mentioned how many political meetings he went to on those same days!

kspeer,

Once in a while you do say things that make me think. Didn't Deputy Grear graduate from High School in 1987?? He is a produce of our "GOALS 2000 - Outcome Based Education" program! Think of all the other NC school failures produced then: Tim McVeigh (starpoint 1986) and John Wayne Bobbit (N-W 1986).

Podcast numbers throught the roof ...

In the last 24 hours, the podcast of Wednesday's show has been downloaded 84 times from this website. While I certainly can't confirm that it has been listened to that many times, I think it's reasonable to assume so ... and likely then some.

Thanks to those of you who visit this site - post to this site - and download the daily podcasts. You validate what I do.

Scott,

As a taxpayer, I am disappointed that you did not ask about Brian's ideas for properly budgeting the appropriations he is given.  Budgeting to provide proper, professional services is a large responsibility of the Sheriff.

Brian seems quick to condemn the way our good Sheriff tries to work within the rules that he is subject to when preparing a budget.

We can read about Brian's condemnation in the Lockport US&J which gets limited written response.  But being put on the spot to answer a tough question about how he will represent the people of Niagara County when he is spending our good money, is the type of question he should be asked.

It was a sad show Scott.  Tabloid journalism.

Ya gotta be kidding me? This from the guy who's apparent MAIN CONCERN is the lawful public expression of people's choice for candidate because it wasn't close enough to the election.

Jim, you need to lay off the kool-aid.

As someone else pointed out earlier, if Grear and Beilein were to present their budgets side by side, you wouldn't know which was which.

So when are we gonna see Sheriff Sacco? You should run. I might even run...I'm gonna have a lot of family and friends out of work when Delphi closes. I can give them jobs.

No Scott, I am not kidding.  While your show focuses on personal issues that Brain has with the Sheriff, the real issues like supervisory leadership, the ability to properly budget public moneys, and public relations in a time of crisis are totally ignored.

As far as the sign issue is concerned, Brian told me in August that he was aware of my email message on that.  He does not know or care for administrative laws like that, so he walked away when I asked him to explain why it was still up!  He lacks the ability to face issues in a public forum, unless he knows what they are and can speak to them.

He was afraid to appear before PEndleton Concerned Citizens who want to ask questions about how their tax dollars are spent!

Brian Grear is a Deputy that has an ax to grind with the Sheriff, and that is all I see.

Jim

PS  I gave up Kool-Aid when I went away to college over 25 years ago.

Too bad you weren't drinking that Kool-Aid down in Jonestown, Guyana in the 1980s.

You are merely a political operative Mr. Sacco. Give it up. Planning board of Pendleton? DEC employee? Involved with waste landfills? Have you ever heard the word "CONFLICT"sir? Where ARE your loyalties? Where is your awareness of self? As a political operative, are you comfortable playing all ends to the middle? The end justifies the means?

Now, you wonder why Grear didn't want to come to your little meeting? Is there a question for one minute who the "taxpayers" group really represents, Mr. Sacco?   You sir, a second generation political prince, are well schooled in these deceptions. You're proud of this jockeying?

Erie Canal Swift Boat Vets? Or, Bull Creek for Beilein!

Yep, looks and sounds sheep 'pencil-ish' like the other pocket-protected piece.
