Homeless Guy
Permalink Closed

I was driving down Transit the other day right by Garlock's and there was a guy sitting on the sidewalk with his back against the guardrail.  He was holding a sign that read "Please help....homeless....need food."  Did anyone else see him?  I just thought it was odd to see that in Lockport.  I mean I know there's homeless people, but I've never seen one with a sign here.  I used to see stuff like that everyday when I lived in downtown Cleveland.  They all had some kind of gimmick to get money, and they stood outside of Woolworth's.  One guy would play the trumpet real badly, and would stop if you gave him money!

I didn't stop to help this guy in Lockport.  I considered it, but where he was sitting it just wasn't possible.  Plus I was by myself, and who knows what the deal was with him.  I also found it ironic that the Soup Kitchen was a block away!

There were a couple homeless guys that used to come in to the restaurant I used to work at in LP. I had heard that one of them hung out in an abandoned house and people used to help him out during the winter. I never saw them or anyone pan-handling in LP so that must've been a weird sight.

I was at a convention once and there were three or four homeless guys there all begging. But the one that stood out had a teddy bear. He secured a styrofoam cup to the bears paws and sat it in the middle of the sidewalk, next to a little sign that said "Homeless bear. Please give."

He got the most donations.
